Dorothy Jean Dykes, longtime resident of Knox City, passed away at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene on Wednesday, August 12, 2015 at the age of 79. Funeral services will be at 3:00 p.m., Saturday, August 15, 2015 at First Baptist Church, Knox City Texas. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Friday evening, August 14, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Funeral Home located at 210 Ave. A., Knox City.
Dorothy Jean was born March 28, 1936 in Knox City, Texas, to Willis Lee and Ida Hodges Pack. She graduated from Knox City High School in 1954. Dorothy Jean married Dallas Dykes in January 15, 1982 in Knox City, where they made their home. She worked for the government offices of ASCS for many years, then retired. She enjoyed golfing and playing cards. She was a member of Abundant Life Church in Knox City.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Willis Lee Pack and Ida Hodges Pack.
Dorothy Jean is survived by her husband, Dallas Dykes of Knox City; one daughter, Patti Lain Currie of Abilene; one brother, Charles Pack and wife Lue of Knox City; one niece, Pam Pack of Lubbock; two grandchildren, Brandon Lewis of Knox City, and Aaron Lewis and wife Julie of Wichita Falls; four great-grandchildren, Sloan, Lainy, Becca, and Skylar; three special sons; Keith Currie, Danny Lewis, and Grant Lewis; and may cousins.
