Dorothy Dean Stiewert, 81, passed away Tuesday morning, March 18, 2014 in Haskell, Texas at Haskell Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, March 22, 2014 at East Side Baptist Church in Haskell with Derrell Marion and Shawn Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Dorothy was born October 22, 1932 in Weinert, Texas to Annie Franell (Brown) and Elzie Marion. She married Marvin George Stiewert in Haskell on September 26, 1952. She was a long-time member of East Side Baptist Church. She was employed by several businesses in the area including the S & H Green Stamp Store, City Drug Store, and Bills Dollar Store.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Elzie and Annie Marion; two brothers, Elzie Lloyd Marion and wife Polly and Joe Marion; three sisters, Faye Booe and husband Loy, Mary Lou Fought and husband Sam Joe, Mildred Gates; and one niece, Dianna Stiewert.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Marvin Stiewert of Haskell; sister-in-law, Auta Marion of Knox City; and her nieces and nephews, Jackie and Carolyn (Booe) Nations, Doris Marie (Marion) Duke, Gary and Sondra (Fought) Davis, Derrell and Cathy Marion, Wayne and Alice Gates, Roland and Sue Marion, Bobby and Kitty Marion, Belinda (Stiewert) Browning, Maynard and Darlene (Stiewert) Coffin, David and Karen Stiewert, Joe and Lila (Stiewert) Stewart, Bobby and Jennifer Stiewert; and several great nieces and nephews.
Serving as pallbearers for Mrs. Stiewert are Bobby Marion, Wayne Gates, David Stiewert, Bobby Stiewert, Maynard Coffin, and Jerry Don Klose.
A special thank you to Dr. Wayne Cadenhead and the nurses, aides and staff of Haskell Healthcare for the wonderful care and love shown to our Aunt.
