Doyle Lee Whitfield

Doyle Lee Whitfield, 72, a longtime resident of Throckmorton, TX, passed away Tuesday, May 21, 2019. A funeral service will be held at 200p.m., Saturday, May 25, 2019 at the First Baptist Church, Throckmorton with Rev. Mike McKinney officiating. Burial will follow services at the Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Throckmorton.

Doyle was born June 21, 1946 in Throckmorton, to Estelle (Pittman) and Floyd Whitfield. He married Barbara (Mitchell) on August 8, 1966 in Des Moines, NM. Doyle was a member of the Throckmorton VFD. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, shooting; but he mostly loved spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his two sons, Glen Whitfield and wife Kena, and Frank Whitfield both of Throckmorton; sister, Flonelle Pritchard and husband Bill of Hobbs, NM; three brothers, Frankie Whitfield and wife Minerva of Throckmorton, James Whitfield and wife Laquita of Midlothian; and Horace (Cotton) Whitfield and wife Frankie Loretta of Michigan, 9 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren and one on the way; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother, Estelle Whitfield; father, Floyd Whitfield; wife, Barbara (Mitchell) Whitfield; three brothers, Dean, Wesley, and Billy Whitfield; two sisters, Jennie Whitfield, and Zelma Alvie.
