Dwayne "Bud" Edward Conner, 79, passed away on Tuesday, March 29, 2016, at Covenant Medical Center in Lubbock, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, April 1, 2016 at the Community Center in Benjamin, Texas with Rev. Troy Culpepper and Rev. Dan Bullock officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Benjamin Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Thursday, March 31, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home located at 210 Ave., Knox City, Texas.
Bud was born January 18, 1937, in Knox City, Texas to Cecil Conner and Zula (Carver) Conner. He lived in Benjamin, Texas all of his life and married Von Conner on June 10, 1954 in Crowell, Texas. Bud was an owner of a restaurant in Knox City called Bud's Cafe. He worked for the state for 18 years, loved to sing, hunt and square dancing and was a member of the First Christian Church.
Bud is survived by his children, Steve Conner and wife Brenda of Big Spring, Texas, Kim Moore of Benjamin, Texas and Keith Dwayne Conner and wife Pam of Midland, Texas; seven grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; one sister, Judy Redwine of Crosbyton, Texas; one brother, Larry Conner of Wolfforth, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
He preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Conner and Zula (Carver) Conner; and wife Von Conner.
