Ed Fouts

Ed Fouts, 85, a lifelong resident of Sagerton, TX, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m., Saturday, October 15, 2016 at the First Baptist Church, Rule with Rev. Kelly Pigott officiating. Burial will follow services at the Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Rule. A visitation is planned from 7pm to 8pm, Thursday, October 13, 2016, at the funeral Home, 600 Robins Ave., Rule, TX.

Ed was born August 6, 1931 in Knox City, to Marie (Mills) and Aubrey Ewell Fouts. He graduated from Texas Tech University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Agriculture. He married Barbara Holgate on July 26, 1958 in Chemainus, B.C. Canada. Ed served in the United States Air Force. He was a farmer and was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Stamford. He was a member of Lions Club, Sigma Nu, and Tech Saddle Tramps.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara Holgate Fouts; two daughters, Lynn Fouts Weir and husband Byron of Lubbock, Laurie Fouts McBroom and Husband Barry of Haskell; his son, Michael Fouts and wife Kristen of Sagerton; three granddaughters, Lauren Weir, Emily Fouts, and Sarah Fouts; six grandsons, Eric Weir, Sam Fouts, Eddie McBroom, Michael McBroom, Wesley Weir, and Brennen Weir; his brother, Jan Fouts and wife Adrienne of Lubbock; his sister, Lynell Brawner and husband John of Granbury.

He is preceded in death by his parents Marie and Aubrey Fouts.
