Edmee "E.D." Rae Johnson

October 14, 1922 — February 2, 2013

Edmee Rae "E.D." Johnson, 90, longtime resident of Throckmorton, Texas, but most recently of Granbury, Texas passed away Saturday, February 2, 2013 at Courtyards at Lake Granbury Assisted Living in Granbury. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 5, 2013 at Elbert Baptist Church with Rev. Marty Light officiating. Interment will take place at Elbert Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes of Throckmorton. Visitation is planned for Monday evening, February 4, from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. at the funeral home.

Edmee Rae Verner was born October 14, 1922 in Meadow, Texas to Bernice (Lidia) and Rev. H.C. Verner. E.D. is a graduate of Throckmorton High School. She married John W. Johnson on May 22, 1941. Mr. Johnson preceded "E.D." in death in January of 2006 after 64 ½ years of marriage. Mrs. Johnson worked for the Throckmorton Ind. School District as the secretary/bookkeeper for 30 years. John and "E.D." lived and farmed in Elbert community and were active members of the Elbert Baptist Church. In 2001, they moved to Granbury, Texas to be near family.

As well as her husband, E.D. is preceded in death by her parents, Bernice and Rev. H.C. Verner.

Those left to honor her memory are her 2 sons, Rhett H. Johnson and wife Sharon, and Vannie Cy Johnson and wife Margie; daughter, Ricky Lee Curtis; grandchildren, Heath and Pam Carnes, Michelle and Jason Francis, Kimberley and Brian Wooley, Steven and Elaine Kosta; 8 great grandchildren; and 3 sisters, Christine Weinburg, Bobbie Reid, and Theona Underwood.
