Elbert Hershall "E.H." Burnett of Haskell, Texas passed away Monday evening, October 1, 2012 at Haskell Healthcare Center in Haskell. Mr. Burnett was 102 years young. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, October 5, 2012 at Willow Cemetery in Haskell with Dr. Troy Culpepper officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Elbert was born June 5, 1910 in Dublin, Texas to Pleasant Alley and Lillie (Daffern) Burnett. He married Edna Wilson in Carlsbad, New Mexico on June 20, 1931 and they lived a loving 65 years together prior to Edna's death. E.H. was a member of the First Baptist Church of Haskell and was a retired famer/rancher.
In addition to Mrs. Burnett, E.H. is also preceded in death by his parents, Alley and Lillie Burnett; brother, Normie Burnett; sister, Lillie Fay Dent; grandson, Randell Lacey; brother-in-law, Ernest Shillingberg; and son-in-law, Cotton Foster.
He is survived by his 1 daughter, Dolores Foster of Haskell; 1 son, Charles Burnett and his wife Joetta of Haskell; 6 grandchildren, Craig Foster and wife Shadella of Bridgeport, Steven Foster and wife Gina of Godley, Ray Burnett and wife Terry of Pilot Point, Tamara Burnett Lewis and husband Andre' of Paradise, and Tim Lacey and wife Kim of Amarillo; 12 great-grandchildren; 10 great great-grandchildren; brother-in-law, Bill Dent and wife June of Abilene; sister, Bertha Shillingberg of Tempe; 1 nephew; and 2 nieces.
