Elton George Klose, longtime resident of Haskell, Texas, passed away Sunday, March 15, 2015, at Hendrick Hospice in Abilene, Texas at the age of 87. Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 18, 2015, at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Haskell, Texas with Pastor David White and Brian Burgess officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the services at Willow Cemetery in Haskell under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Tuesday evening, March 17 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home located at 304 North Second Street.
Elton was born February 7, 1928, in Haskell, Texas, to George Frederick Klose and Dora Alvena (Eschberger). He served in the U.S. Army from 1950 to 1952. On June 26, 1955, Elton married Ruth Ann (White) in Haskell, Texas. He was a member at the Trinity Lutheran Church of Haskell, Texas and a 70 year member of O.D.H.S.
He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Dora Klose; son, Roy Don Klose; and grandson, KC Klose.
Elton is survived by his wife of nearly 60 years, Ruth Ann (White) Klose of Haskell, Texas; two sons, Eddie Lynn Klose and wife Terri of Haskell, Texas and Kelly Wade Klose and wife Connie of Burleson, Texas; three grandchildren, Beau Klose and wife Andrea of Austin, Texas, Jasmine Klose of Red Oak, Texas, and Jacie Klose of Haskell, Texas; one sister, Vernell Lester of Abilene, Texas; niece, Lori Hobbs and husband Gary; and nephew, Bennett Driver.
Serving as pallbearers are Leonard Howard, Wayne Hutchinson, Benny Bredthauer, Sam Watson, Wilton Weise, and James Wittenborn.
