Emilia (Salazar) Navarrette

The world lost an amazing and beloved mother, Emilia Salazar Navarrette, 84, passed away, Saturday, December 19, 2020 with her family by her side. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Rule Cemetery. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A rosary is planned for 7:00PM, Monday, December 21, 2020 at the funeral home, 304 N 2nd St., Haskell.

Emilia was born April 5, 1936 in Fort McKavitt, TX, to Tiofilo and Gregoria Salazar. Emilia married Santos Navarrette, Sr., on April 28, 1952 and moved to Munday, TX. Emilia later moved to Rule, TX where she raised 6 children. Emilia was a loving and caring mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend. Emilia never met a stranger and was loved by everyone she met. Emilia especially enjoyed spending time with all her family.

Emilia is survived by her 4 sons, Santos Navarrette, Jr. and wife Anna Marie, Mario Navarrette and wife Delia, Angel Navarrette and wife Sara, Johnny Navarrette and wife Anna; 1 daughter, Gloria Mirelez and husband Pascual; 10 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.

Emilia is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Albert Navarrette.
