Ercilia G. Quintanilla, 93, a longtime resident of Knox City, Texas, passed away Monday, April 3, 2023. A funeral service will be at 11:00AM, Thursday, April 6, 2023, at the Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Knox City, with Father Francis Chinthamalla officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A rosary is planned Wednesday, April 5, 2023, at 7:00PM, at the funeral home, 210 Ave. A, Knox City, Texas.
Ercilia was born August 9, 1929 in Hidalgo, Mexico to Delores (Salinas) and Thomas Gonzales. She married Luciano Quintanilla December 2, 1951 in Crosbyton, Texas. She loved cooking for other people. She was always having people come fellowship, she was always helping others going above and beyond to be helpful. She was a hard worker and enjoyed watching her novelas. In her younger years she enjoyed embroidery and sewing. She was a very sweet mom and grandmother. She loved her grandkids and great-grandkids very much. She was a member of Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Knox City.
She is survived by her son, Luciano Quintanilla Jr. of Carlsbad, New Mexico; daughter, Sylvia Q. Garcia and husband Pilar of Abilene, Texas; three grandsons, Jason Zeissel, Kristofer A. Garcia, Stetson Quintanilla; four granddaughters, Karissa N. Albarado, Marsha Travis, Shayla Quintanilla, Shyann Quintanilla; 9 great-grandchildren; sister, Bertha; brother, Herculano Salinas, and numerous nieces and nephews and other family members; brother-in-law Doroteo Quintanilla and wife Elida of Corpus Christi; sister-in-law, Juana Lerma of Haskell.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Delores and Thomas Gonzales; husband, Luciano Quintanilla; one brother and three sisters.
