Erna (Pueschel) Peiser, lifelong resident of Haskell, Texas, passed away Thursday evening, May 2, 2013 at Country Elegance Care Home in Stamford, Texas. Mrs. Peiser was 93. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, May 6, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor David White officiating. Burial will immediately follow at Willow Cemetery in Haskell under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned for Sunday evening from 6:00 to 7:00 at the funeral home.
One of 7 children, Erna Pueschel was born in Haskell County, Texas on November 22, 1919 to Gustav and Emma (Rueffer) Pueschel. She married William Peiser on August 28, 1940 in Haskell where they remained and raised their 3 children. Erna was a devoted homemaker and was often found in her garden that she loved tending to. She was known as a perfectionist seamstress and wonderful cook. Mrs. Peiser was part of the Haskell Garden Club and a faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she had taught Sunday school for many years.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William Peiser; her parents, Gustav and Emma Pueschel; 4 brothers, Gus Pueschel, Ervin Pueschel, Justin Pueschel, Monroe Pueschel; and 1 sister, Adelle Grogan.
Erna is survived by her daughter, Delores Nanny and husband Ben of Abilene; 2 sons, Galen Peiser of Salinas, California, and Burlie Peiser and wife Ellen of Tyler, Texas; 5 grandchildren, Holly Hammonds, Jennifer Seward, Benjamin Nanny, Kenneth Peiser, Stephan Peiser; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 sister, Leona Seelig of Fredricksburg, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family has asked in lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Erna's name to Trinity Lutheran Church, 7630 US Hwy 380 E, Haskell, Texas, 79521 or to a favorite charity of choice.
