Ervin (Chick) E. Frierson, 85, a lifelong resident of Haskell, Texas, peacefully passed away Monday, October 10, 2016, at his home. A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 12, 2016, at Willow Cemetery, Haskell, Texas.
Ervin was born November 17, 1930, to Ervin McGee and Ozelle (Dishongh) Frierson. He graduated from Haskell High School in 1947 and Texas A&M University in 1951 with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Animal Husbandry. He married Maudine Hargrove on August 1, 1953.
Ervin served for two years as a First Lieutenant in the Korean War as part of the 2nd Infantry Division 38th Field Artillery Battalion. His career was spent as a building contractor but his passion was building and flying model airplanes. He shared that love with others through the Texas Chiefs model airplane club, which he organized in 1953; Chick's Hobby Shop, which he ran for over 50 years; and his participation in the Academy of Model Aeronautics. Ervin's love of model airplanes was exceeded only by his love for God and family. He was an active member of First Baptist Church of Haskell, Texas, serving as a deacon and on various committees.
Ervin is preceded in death by his wife and parents, his sister Virginia Cox, and his grandparents Sanders and Tennie Dishongh.
He is survived by his daughters Deanna Sullivan of Houston, Texas, Suzanne Naylor of Grapevine, Texas, Connie Brueggeman and her husband Danny of Haskell, Texas; granddaughter Sydney Berra and her husband Lee of Edwards, California; and grandson Garrett Brueggeman and his wife Lindsey of San Antonio, Texas.
