Ester Najera

Ester Najera, 71, of Knox City, Texas, passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm, Wednesday, May 28, 2025, at St. George Catholic Church in Haskell, Texas with Deacon Julian Estrada officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Weinert Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A rosary is planned from 6:00 to 7:00pm, Tuesday, May 27, 2025, at the funeral home, 304 N 2nd Street, Haskell, Texas.

Ester was born March 4, 1954 in Austin, Texas to Minnie (Guerra) and Victor Machado. She was raised in Weinert, Texas and later moved to Goree, Texas. She was adventurous and nomadic. She loved to laugh, but mostly she loved her grand babies. She also loved to fish, go to the casinos, scratch off tickets, and having family gatherings.

She is survived by her 3 sons, Robert Estrada and wife Tammie of Seymour, Texas, Martin Estrada and wife Carletta of Tonkawa, OK., Adrian Estrada of Abilene, Texas; 2 daughters, Marie Shields and husband Victor of Munday, Texas, Nancy Garcia of Munday, Texas; brother, Armando Machado of Goree, Texas; 19 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Minnie Machado; 2 sons, Johnny Lee Estrada, Pete Estrada; 1 sister and 5 brothers.
