Eva Nell Herod

Eva Herod, born June 7, 1958, a longtime resident of Throckmorton, TX, passed away Thursday, July 17, 2025. A memorial service will be held Friday, September 26, 2025 at 2:00pm, at Smith Family Funeral Homes, Throckmorton, 107 N. Austin.

Eva was a hardworking, compassionate woman who spent her life caring for others, especially her family and the many residents she served. While working at the nursing home in Throckmorton, Texas. She had a giving heart and a quiet strength, always putting others before herself and making everyone feel seen and loved.

She is preceded in death by her parents, William and Rozzie Johnson as well as her husband Gary Don Herod and daughter Mandy.

She is survived by 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
