Evelyn Brockett went to sleep on June fourteenth to awaken to the sight of Jesus welcoming her home. She fought hard to battle the dementia that was robbing her of her life and memories. She won that fight on June 15, 2022, at the Munday Nursing Center.
A longtime member of the First United Methodist Church in Ralls, Texas, Evelyn was passionate about sharing the love of our Lord with others through playing the piano for services. Now that she has passed into the arms of our Lord, we should remind ourselves that while this is the end of Evelyn's physical life on Earth, it is the beginning of an eternal and beautiful journey for her. She was also very passionate about Yellowstone National Park where she worked during the summer months for over ten years. She passed before having to witness the devastation over the last few days.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Merle, two brothers, Verle and Lon Roberts and her grandson, Cory.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Marq and Carolyn Brockett of Knox City, sister Carolyn Tarpley of Lakewood, Colorado, her sister-in-law Laverne Roberts of Ralls, a grandson, Matthew Brockett of Fort Worth as well as many nieces and nephews spread across several states.
Think fondly of Evelyn when you hear her favorite hymn, Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee. She certainly adored Christ.
Memorial services are being planned.
