Felix Cardona Valdez, longtime resident of O'Brien, Texas, passed away Sunday evening, October 12, 2014, at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Mr. Valdez was 91. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m.,Thursday, October 16, 2014, at Santa Rosa Catholic Church in Knox City with Deacon Ruben Castaneda officiating. Interment will following at O'Brien Cemetery in O'Brien under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes of Knox City. A Rosary is planned for Wednesday, October 15, from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home in Knox City located at 210 Avenue A.
Felix was born June 4, 1923, in Nueva Laredo, Mexico, to Rosa (Cardona) and Josa Valdez. He married Romana Valdez on July 19, 1957, in Ft. Worth, Texas. Felix enjoyed playing cards and dominos and was a member of Santa Rosa Catholic Church. He is a retired plumber.
He is preceded in death by his wife, Romana; parents, Rosa and Josa Valdez; and a sister-in-law, Sylvestra Delao.
Felix is survived by his special friend, Trina Lerma of O'Brien, Texas; niece, Mary Magana also of O'Brien; great-nieces and nephews, Olga Magana and Joe Soliz of Abilene and Chico and Vallie Magana of Knox City, Texas; great-great nieces and nephews, Andrew Magana, Patricia Magana, Moses Dena, Samantha Dena, Alex Perez, and Samuel Dena all of Abilene; Shavonna and Jeffery Henandez of Knox City, Monica and JJ Johnston of Seattle, Washington, April and Dusty Dickens of San Antonio, and Derrick Magana of Wichita Falls. In addition, there are 15 great-great-great nieces and nephews.
