Finnice Imogene Turnbow

January 14, 1937 — December 13, 2020

On Sunday, December 13, 2020; Our beloved Mother and constant foundation of her children's faith: Finnice Imogene Walker Turnbow went into the glorious Light of our Heavenly Father, and began Praising and Rejoicing as she beheld sight of the Lamb, the King of Kings and Lord or Lords, the Great Son of God, Jesus Christ who she focused her entire lifetime, through her daily life, whether she was inside or outside, the gaze of the public eye. This fine Christian lady and devoted mother, the title and position in which she was so justifiably most proud of all, always teaching her children from infancy and into adulthood, most definitely by example. The way in which she lived through her entire lifetime. Ms. Turnbow was born, the last of three daughters of Finnice and Othella Myrick Walker of Knox City, Texas. She loved her father Finnice dearly, and always remained very grateful for having been named after him. Often, expressing how she sorely missed him, but rejoicing along side of him now in her most happy reunion today, now hand-in-hand with their Savior!

As a young daughter in Christ, Finnice Imogene began expressing her Love for him in a number of way, in serving as early as 1959, leading the young children's (5-7 year olds) choir at First Baptist Church in Abilene, and while a young wife and mother residing there at the time, followed by serving as a Leader in THIS First Baptist Church here in Knox City, Vacation Bible School in 1960, and in that same capacity for First Baptist of Haskell, in 1962, as well as taught in the Girl's Auxiliary, in the same year.

All who ever had the pleasure of really, all came away with sharing in common that definite sense of knowing they had just met a Christian lady, who had a tremendous capacity to love. Not only did she always conduct her life and let it always guide her treatment of others, her heart expressed by some, has quite often been cherished as being one of the most selfless, and generous some have ever witnessed from another human being in it's capacity to express sincerity, true care for others, but her heart and spirit were always noticeably visible and expressive in their love, during some of her lifetime's most difficult and trying times. Regardless, of how heavy the flow of adversities in life could drive like a tumultuous wind. Gene's spirit and infinite capacity to Love and care for others, especially toward her children who she loved and adored almost as much as her Lord and Savior. That capacity to keep showing the Light of Christ who shined within her, everyday of her life; was never diminished. It would always only express greater praise and Love in her actions, and even verbally, and her children were always so humbled, and warmed by this great gift that Always saw living and shining so Brightly from within her heart and soul, as even as she aged and weakened physically over time as our human bodies do, her children and all who came into her presence marveled at how she still kept that, precious little sweet smile, and despite all, she continually kept her beautiful eyes focused on the Lamb, for she truly enjoyed saying Worthy is the Lamb and hearing such a song. She always loved to Praise the Father and Son, give thanks to them, and even especially often Witnessed to him. No doubt she is rejoicing and praising him now as she receives perhaps more than one crown reward for having seen directly in her life, more than one soul gained to Christ, as a result of her influence, and inviting them to her churches revivals at Trinity Baptist in her last years of being mobile, and active, and then saw the result of a soul won, walking the aisle at end. During that time, she won first place, two years in a row by having affirmation she had asked the most number of people who came to those revivals, to attend, and actually indeed did. People loved seeing the joy it gave her to encourage others to seek Her Savior, doing so always kept her eternal light inside of her, just burning more brightly each day. What a True Inspiration she was to so many.

A private funeral service will be held on Wednesday, December 16, 2020, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
