Heaven welcomed our beloved Florence Peden Alexander, 81, on July 7, 2022. A service to celebrate her life will be held at 2pm on Monday, July 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church in Haskell, Texas, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
Florence was born on May 18, 1941, in Haskell, Texas, the eldest daughter of Benno and Freida (Lehmann) Erdman of Old Glory, Texas. She grew up working with her father on the farm, showing steers in 4-H, and playing on the Old Glory High School basketball team. She graduated from Old Glory High School in 1959, earned a college degree and met Hank Peden in Amarillo, Texas. Hank and Florence fell in love and married in 1968 and began a wholesome and adventurous life of cattle ranching in the Texas Panhandle, New Mexico, and finally near Haskell, Texas. They finally settled on the family farm where Florence was raised.
A longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Haskell, Texas, Florence loved the Lord deeply and shared that love with others. She was a gifted decorator with a green thumb and enjoyed searching for treasures in antique and thrift shops. Her loved ones saw her as selfless, creative, and thoughtful, and she loved to laugh and reminisce with family and friends.
Florence was preceded in death by the love of her life, Hank, and by her second husband, Jim Alexander, as well as a sister.
Her beautiful life here on earth will be cherished and she will be missed by those she leaves behind, including her daughter and son-in-law, Penny and Charli Stafford of Rogers, Arkansas, grandson Tristan Stafford of Rogers, Arkansas, bonus family including Rick Peden, and wife Jan, Jerry Peden and wife Cheryl, Linda Stokes and husband, Gordon, and Jim Peden and wife Jeannie, as well as countless close friends and family.
