Frances Laverne Bowen

Frances Harrell Bowen of Haskell, Texas, born October 15, 1933, passed away peacefully with her daughter, Carol, at her side on November 16, 2021. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Friday, November 19, 2021, at the Church of Christ in Haskell, Tx. Burial will follow services at the Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Frances is survived by her daughter Carol Hamilton Trueblood; Stepson Gary Bowen; Grandchildren Melissa Velasco, Clint Hamilton, Amy Hamilton, Jennifer Hamilton, Megan Belew, David Mayer, Trent Bowen, and Lane Bowen; and eighteen great grandchildren.

Frances was preceded in death by her parents Issac Hoie Harrell and Reba Jenkins Harrell; her brother Donald Royce Harrell; her husband Jimmie Bowen; son Keith Hamilton and Stepdaughter Carol Bowen Mayer.

Frances enjoyed perusing antique stores and garage sales, creating memories with her loved ones, hosting friends, and working in her beautiful yard. Her fried chicken was second to none and her pink salad was a regular request at potlucks and family gatherings. For many years, Frances faithfully delivered Meals on Wheels to elderly who she befriended. She loved listening to her meal recipients stories and became close friends with each and every one of them. Frances was a member of The Church of Christ and the Garden Club in Haskell, TX. In her early years, Mrs. Bowen was a dental assistant in San Angelo Texas.

Thank you to the wonderful staff and doctors at Brazos Valley Care Home in Knox City Texas for their love and support of Frances in her final two years.

Frances will be missed and is loved dearly by all that knew her.
