Frances Louise Smith, 96, of Abilene, Texas and life-long resident of Haskell, Texas passed away on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 at her residence at Royal Estates in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be Saturday at 10:00 a.m. at East Side Baptist Church in Haskell, Texas with Dr. Brian Hill officiating. Interment will take place immediately following the service at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned for Friday evening, from 6:00 p.m, - 7:30 p.m, located at 304 North 2nd Street in Haskell, Texas.
Louise was born November 29, 1919 to A.T. and Mattie Cook. She graduated from Haskell High School in 1939 and married Odis T. Smith on July 13, 1940. Odis preceded her in death October 12, 2007 after 67 years of marriage.
Louise was a life-long member of East Side Baptist Church where she faithfully attended and loved her Sunday School class members. Her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. She worked hard all her life and found such happiness working in her garden, baking fabulous desserts, and cooking delicious meals for family and friends.
Her survivors include two daughters, Shirley Hill and husband Joe of Potosi, Texas and Anita Aycock and husband Fred of Abilene,Texas; Grandchildren, Brian Hill and wife Kristi of Corpus Christi, Texas, Scott Hill and wife Lea Ann of Abilene, Texas, Angela Valentine and husband Marc of Abilene,Texas and Jennifer Harsany and husband Mike of Brock, Texas; and nine great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband, parents and brother.
If desired, memorials can be given in Louise's name to the Eastside Baptist Church, 600 N 1st, Haskell, Texas 79521.
