Frank W. Slayton, 79, longtime resident of Rule, Texas passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 23, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Rule with Rev. Robert Slayton and Rev. Scott Hensley officiating. Interment will immediately follow at the Rule Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Friday evening, February 22 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Rule.

Frank was born on March 13, 1933 in Kaufman, Texas to Sam and Lily Pearl (Stephens) Slayton. He married Cynthia Kizzia in Terrell, Texas on February 14, 1953. On November 4, 1976 Frank was ordained as Reverend Frank Slayton at Eastside Baptist Church in Haskell by Rev. Jimmy Griffith. He went on to pastor at Calvary Baptist Church in Rule, Peacock Baptist Church in Peacock, Swenson Baptist Church in Swenson, and First Christian Church of Haskell. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Rule.

Rev. Slayton will be missed by the many he touched with his kind and understanding soul.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Sam and Lily Slayton; and 3 brothers, Charles Slayton, Robert Slayton, and Curtis Slayton.

Those left behind to honor his memory are his wife Cynthia of Rule; 3 sons, Michael Slayton and wife Mary of Bellevue, Texas, Jim Slayton and wife Diane of Mineola, Texas, Robert Slayton and wife Kathy of Bellevue, Texas; 2 daughters, Elaine Chaney and husband Paul of Midland, Texas, and Kimberly Mansell and husband Bryan of Haskell, Texas; 1 sister, Janelle Sonntagg and husband Richard of Mesquite, Texas; 15 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and Gods children.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests making a donation in Rev. Frank Slayton's name to St. Jude Children's Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
