Freddie Harrell Jackson

Freddie Harrell Jackson, lifelong resident of Throckmorton, Texas, passed away Monday afternoon, August 5, 2013 at the Throckmorton Nursing Home. Mr. Jackson was 78.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, August 9, 2013 at the First Baptist Church in Throckmorton with Rev. Peter Parker officiating. Burial will take place immediately following at the Throckmorton Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. An evening visitation is planned for Thursday, Aug 8 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Freddie was born March 9, 1935 in Throckmorton to Archie Jasper and Sarah Ruth (Blair) Jackson. He was an avid sky diver and pilot and loved to write and research family history. Freddie enjoys sharing the story of being a stand-in for Academy Award winner, Ben Johnson, in the 1971 movie, "The Last Picture Show". Freddie was a farmer and member of the First Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Archie and Sarah Jackson; a son, Jerry Dee Wayne Jackson; and an infant sister.

Freddie will be missed by his 2 daughters, Sarah Kathleen (Kathy) Jackson-Little of Throckmorton, Kimberly Rene' Jackson-Leo and husband Thomas Chris of Gardnerville, Nevada; brother, Robert Jackson and wife Maxi of Throckmorton; 3 grandchildren, Shelby Rene' Gallagher, Christina Danielle Jackson, Austin Lavy Jackson; his favorite daughter-in-law, Sherry Jackson; niece, Renee Gober and husband James of Haskell; great-niece, Izzy Gober of Haskell; and 2 great-nephews, Colton and Matthew Gober of Haskell.

Serving as pallbearers for Freddie are Alan Bell, James Gober, Ray Fowler, David Fowler, Kerrie Joe Everett, and Dale Riley.
