Alfred Eugene Grand, 81, former Haskell, Texas resident, but most recently of Ada, Oklahoma passed away Wednesday, January 23, 2013 at his home. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 28, 2013 at Willow Cemetery in Haskell, Texas with Rev. Tony Grand officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned for Sunday evening, January 27 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home in Haskell.
Mr. Grand was born April 9, 1931 in Haskell, Texas to Grace Elizabeth (Tidwell) and Alfred Paul Grand. He attended Paint Creek School and served in the Korean War. Gene married Helen Jolene Dunnam on January 3, 1953 in Las Cruces, New Mexico. He and Jolene have resided in Ada since 1976. Mr. Grand was a retried farmer and mill wright for Power Mills, Inc.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Alfred and Grace Grand; step-mother, Elsie Grand; and great-grandson, Brayden Dowless.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen Jolene Grand of the home; 3 sons, Mike Grand and wife Teresa, Kippie Grand, and Cliff Grand; 3 brothers, Curtis Grand and wife Joy, Howard Grand and wife Maxine, and Eddie Grand; 4 sisters, Martha Andress and husband Winford, JoAnn Brock and husband Robert, Helen Wheatley and husband Johnny, and Linda Wallace; 7 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and a number of nieces and nephews.
