George Seedig, 80, longtime resident of Elbert, Texas, passed away Saturday morning, June 18, 2016, at Throckmorton Memorial Hospital in Throckmorton, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at the First Baptist Church in Throckmorton, Texas with Rev. Pete Bradfield officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the services at Elbert Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Monday evening, June 20, from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home located at 107 North Austin, Throckmorton, Texas.
George was born November 28, 1935, in Clifton, Texas to Julius George Seedig and Margarite (Thiele) Seedig. At the age of two, he moved to Elbert, Texas. On April 14, 1956, in Seymour, Texas, George married Fern De Lynn (Slaggle). He served as County Commissioner for 20 years and worked at the Highway Department for 19 years. He enjoyed to fish, loved his family and his cattle were his pets.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Julius George and Margarite (Thiele) Seedig; wife, Fern Seeding; one grandson, Tanner Seedig; three brothers, Curtis Seedig, Hubert Seedig, and Linn D. Seedig; and one sister, Nelda Dennis.
George is survived by his two sons, Connis Seedig and wife Kittye of Weatherford, Texas and Lanny Seedig and wife Karen of Abilene, Texas; seven grandchildren, Lance Seedig, Stacy Polnack, Spencer Seedig, Kayla Brashears, Blake Bedinger, Tyler Seedig, and Rachel Bedinger; four great-grandchildren, Jonathan Seedig, Emma Brashears, Lastin Seedig, and Kylie Seedig; one half-sister, Ann Hollenbaugh; one half-brother, David Seedig; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
