George Joseph "Jimbo" Valentic Jr., 77, of Woodson, TX passed away Wednesday, April 13, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 10:00AM, Tuesday, April 19, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of Woodson with Rev. Jeremy Smith officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Throckmorton.
Jimbo was born in Port Clinton, OH, May 8,1944 to George and Reva Valentic. He joined the army in 1962 and served 11 years. During those 11 years he served two tours in Vietnam as a combat engineer and after the war he served as a Drill Sergeant while stationed in Fort Jackson, NC. After he was discharged from the army he started driving big rigs traveling all over the United States.
He married Rebecca Valentic in Amarillo, TX, on January 28, 1978. They moved to Woodson in 1992, where he continued driving Big Rigs for 18 more years and retired in 2018. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Woodson.
He is survived by his wife Becky of 44 years, sons George Valentic III of Carson City, NV, Karl Valentic and wife Cindy of Greensboro, NC, James Valentic and wife Sharon of Carthage, NC, Jacob Valentic and wife Melissa of Woodson, David Martin and wife Christie of Springtown, Billy Martin and wife Ashley of Graford, James Martin and wife Karen of Wichita Falls and daughter Renee Martin of Graford; 23 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; two brothers Steve and John and two sisters Dee and Linda.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Armin Valentic, granddaughter Leah Martin and brothers Al and Frank Valentic.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to First Baptist Church of Woodson.
