Gerre Colbert Larned, 75, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2023. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, October 3, 2023, at the First Baptist Church in Haskell, with Rev. Jeff Gore officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A visitation is planned for Monday, October 2, 2023, from 6-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 304 N 2nd Street, Haskell, Texas.
Gerre was born April 15,1948 in Memphis, Tennessee to Golda (Gates) and Dr. R. E. Colbert. She got her Masters Degree from Hardin Simmons. She taught for 35 years at the Haskell and Paint Creek school and later became the school counselor at Paint Creek. She loved horses and cats.
She is survived by her husband, Sammy Larned of Haskell; two sons, Cole Larned and wife Amanda of Frisco, Casey Larned of Haskell; 5 grandsons, Creed, Gage and Crew Larned of Frisco, Knox and Easton Larned of Haskell; mother -in-law, Ruth Larned of Haskell; sister Pam McDonald and husband Barry of Andrews; 2 brothers, Robin Colbert and wife Lee Ann of Plano, Chris Colbert of San Angelo; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Dr. R. E. and Golda Colbert.
