Glen Ray Sammons

Glen Ray Sammons, 92, a longtime resident of Haskell, Texas, passed away, Wednesday, December 23, 2020. A private graveside service will be held for family only with Rev. Rick Moeller officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell.

Glen was born September 20, 1928, in Throckmorton, Texas to Mattie (Howell) and John Sammons. He married Pat (Toliver) on January 25, 1952 in Haskell. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting, and camping. He especially loved spending time with his grandkids. Glen and Pat enjoyed Christmas, making divinity, pies, cakes, and having the kids come visit.

He is survived by his two sons, Steven Sammons and wife Paula of Haskell, Alvin Sammons of Seymour; son-in-law, Mike Newberry of Lake Dallas; 4 granddaughters, Lynn Cobb and husband Danny, Christina Stephens husband and Winston, Jr., Kaysha Byrd and husband Jonathan, Erin Smith and husband Cameron; 6 grandsons, Kenn Newberry and wife Wendi, Andrew Sammons, Lucas Sammons, Dustin Hajek and wife Amy, Jonathan Hajek and wife Chelsey, David Hajek, Jr.; 13 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; 2 sisters-in-law, Robbie Gholson, and Jeffie Clifton.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Mattie and John Sammons; wife, Pat Sammons; daughter, Diane Newberry; daughter-in-law, Jo Sammons; 2 brothers, Jim Sammons, Howell Sammons; 2 sisters, Maurine Gregor, and Sue Irby.
