Grace Jeanette Hannsz, lifetime resident of Haskell, passed away Friday, November 30, 2012 at Memory Lane Assisted Living Center in Haskell, Texas.
Graveside services will be held at 4:00pm, Sunday, December 2, 2012 in Willow Cemetery, Haskell, Texas with Mr. Robbie Peiser and Mr. Phillip Simms officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes in Haskell.
Grace Jeanette Hannsz was born in Stamford, Texas on June 11, 1938 to Ted and Tilda Kohout Marugg. She grew up on the family farm southwest of Haskell and attended Haskell schools. She married James Roy "Jimmy" Hannsz on August 23, 1955 in Rule, Texas. The couple raised wheat, cotton, and cattle in the Haskell community until his death in 2002. Grace could be seen many days during cotton stripping season hauling trailers full of cotton to the gin. Other days she could be seen taking meals to the field consisting of fried chicken and iced tea in coffee cans. Grace was a homemaker and Jimmy's helpmate for over 47 years. She was a part of a group of women who started the Haskell Young Homemakers, she enjoyed visiting the Haskell Co. Library on numerous occasions and was a member of the Haskell Garden Club before illness deprived her of that. Grace also enjoyed sewing, making crafts, and collecting antiques for many years.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jimmy, and one brother, Glenn Marugg.
She is survived by 2 daughters: Charlotte Peiser and husband Robbie of Haskell, Kristie Runnion and husband Robert of Abilene, and 1 son, Mark Hannsz and wife Jana of Midland.
She is also survived by granddaughters: Breann Cypert and husband Cody of Lubbock, Bergen Webb and husband Josh of Knox City, Lacey Peiser of Henrietta, Ashton Hannsz of Midland; and grandsons: Clay Hannsz and wife Shana of Midland, and Ryan Hannsz of Lubbock.
Also; great-grandchildren: Averie Cypert, Mason Cypert, Berkley Hannsz, and Carter Webb.
The family will be at 1901 North Avenue F in Haskell for Visitation.
