Hilbert Perez Benavides, Sr., 54, a longtime resident of Haskell, TX, passed away Sunday, July 18, 2021. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00AM, Saturday, July 24, 2021 at the St. George Catholic Church, Haskell with Father Joseph Kurumbel officiating. Burial will follow services at Willow Cemetery, Haskell under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A rosary is planned for 7:00PM, Friday, July 23, 2021, at the funeral home, 304 N. 2nd St., Haskell.
Hilbert was born December 15, 1966 in Falfurrias, TX to Angelica (Perez) and Amador Benavides. Hilbert enjoyed music and dancing. He especially loved spending time with his family.
He is survived by his mother, Angelica Benavides of Haskell; 2 sons, Hilbert Benavides, Jr., and wife Susan Sutton of Abilene, Jesus Benavides and wife Lindsey Moor of Abilene; daughter, Priscilla Benavides of Abilene; two step-daughters, Alyssa Ibarra and husband Nathaniel Reid of Abilene, Esmeralda Ibarra and husband Samuel Navarro II of Denton; step-son, Joseph Ibarra of Abilene; 2 sisters, Elsa Rodriguez and husband Amado of Knox City, Emily Escobedo and husband Rfino of Austin; 2 brothers, Amador Benavides and wife Linda of San Angelo, Joe Benavides of Haskell; 6 grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Amador Benavides; sister, Zilda Benavides; and brother, Paul Benavides.
