Hollis Dale Dixon, age 80, passed away peacefully in his sleep in the early hours of Monday, November 9, 2015. He was born on November 12, 1934, in Carter County Oklahoma, son of James M. Dixon and Cleatis O. Dixon. He graduated from Haskell High School in Haskell, Texas in 1953, attended Texas Tech University, and married Mary Sue Byrd in Haskell, Texas on July 27, 1955. Dale and Sue lived for a while in Dumas, Texas, then moved to Mesquite, Texas in 1961 where they raised their four children. Dale worked for Texas Instruments in Dallas for over 35 years. Dale loved spending time with family and friends, he enjoyed working in the yard, cooking BBQ, hunting and fishing and, most especially, he loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James M. Dixon and Cleatis O. Dixon; and his wife, Mary Sue Dixon.
Dale is survived by his children, Darla Dixon, Mike Dixon and his wife, Jennifer Dixon, Jay Dixon, and Hank Dixon and his wife, Karen Dixon; grandchildren, Zach Brown, Jake Brown and his wife Brittany, Blair Dixon, Dean Dixon, Will Dixon, Claire Dixon and Ellie Dixon; brother, Wendell Dixon and his wife June Dixon, brothers-in-law James A. Byrd, Jr. and Dr. H. Steve Byrd and his wife, Lisa Byrd; and many nieces, nephews and their families, whom he dearly loved being around.
A Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 14, 2015 at Willow Cemetery in Haskell, Texas under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned for Saturday, November 14, at 9:00 a.m. until the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to Watermark Community Church or the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
