Horace Wayne Posern

Horace Wayne Posern of Woodson, Texas passed away at his home, Monday, July 29, 2013 at the age of 72. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, August 2, 2013 at the Smith Family Funeral Home Chapel in Throckmorton with Rev. Peter Parker officiating. Visitation is planned for Thursday evening, August 1 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will take place immediately following the services at Woodson Cemetery in Woodson under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Horace Wayne was born in Houston, Texas on September 7, 1940 to Carl Ward and Mauleen (Wright) Posern. An avid outdoorsman, Horace received a Master's Degree in Agriculture and was a retired teacher. He enjoyed farming.


He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Mauleen Posern; and a sister, Patsy Perry.

Horace is survived by his son, Eric Christopher Posern of El Paso, Texas; daughter, Erin Anton Posern of Livingston, Texas; 2 brothers, Michael Posern of Graham and Joseph Posern of Austin; grandson, Cole Posern; nieces, Laura Ward, Shannon Posern, Theresa Posern, Lisa Jones; and nephew, Scott Perry.
