Howard W. Grand

Howard W. Grand, 80, a longtime resident of Haskell, TX, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2019. A graveside service will be held at 11:00a.m., Tuesday, November 26, 2019 at Willow Cemetery with Rev. Tony Grand officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Haskell. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00p.m., Monday, November 25, 2019 at the funeral home, 304 N. 2nd Street, Haskell, TX.

Howard was born July 26, 1939 in Haskell Co., to Grace (Tidwell) and Alfred Grand. He married Alice Maxine (Wheeler) on June 29, 1958 in Haskell, and they enjoyed a long happy marriage of 61 years. Howard worked as a service technician at John Deere for 38 years. He farmed most of his life, and after retiring, helped his kids with their farming. Howard enjoyed hand feeding his cattle, hunting, and fishing.

He is survived by his wife, Maxine Grand of Haskell; three sons, Randy Grand and wife April, Chris Grand and wife Kristen, and Kevin Grand all of Haskell; daughter, Gina Buerger and husband Kenneth of Avoca; 5 grandchildren, Courtney, Katie, Katrina, Levi, and Cheyenne; 5 great grandchildren and one on the way; four sisters, Joan Brock of Big Spring, Martha Andress, Helen Wheatley and husband Johnny, and Linda Wallace all of Haskell; two brothers, Curtis Grand and wife Joy of Dimmitt, and Dennis Grand and wife Lana of Merkel; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He is preceded in death by his mother Grace (Tidwell) Grand; father, Alfred Grand; and brother, Gene Grand.
