Iola June Muse

January 11, 1939 — May 16, 2014

Iola June Muse, resident of Haskell, Texas passed away at her home Friday morning, May 16, 2014. Mrs. Muse was 75. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 23, 2014 at First Assembly of God Church with Bro. J.C. Amburn officiating. Visitation is planned for Thursday evening, May 22, 2014, from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m., at the funeral home located at 304 N. 2nd Street. Arrangements were made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

Ida June Brown was born January 11, 1939 in Haskell to Ola Eudora (Gibbs) and George Thomas Brown. She married Elvin Carl (Ken) Muse in 1967 and the couple moved to Dallas. June worked for many years for First Federal Bank in Dallas and later, with her sister's business, Cowboy Fire Extinguisher of Dallas.

June was a caregiver for many years to her husband until his death in 1987, a sister, and finally, to her brother-in-law. She enjoyed playing dominoes and loved to cook. She attended East Side Baptist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents; George Thomas and Ola Brown; 5 sisters, Ova Lee Chastant, Billie Louise Beggs, Annie Doris Tidrow, Lola Belle Smetak, and Wanda Faye Chavis; 2 brothers, Sonny Alton Brown and Bennie Joe Brown.

June is survived by 8 nephews, Roy Beggs of Euless, Texas, Denny Tidrow of Navasota, Texas, J.T. Tidrow of Haskell, Bobby Hopper of Garland, Texas, Joseph Smetak also of Garland, James Brown and Larry Brown both of Red Oak, Texas; 2 nieces, Linda Martinez of Haskell, and Melanie Hatfield of Abilene. In addition, she is survived by numerous great-nieces and nephews, and cousins.
