James Robert Bowers lifelong resident of Haskell, Texas and owner of Wild Horse Trading Post passed away Tuesday evening, March 4, 2014 at St. Paul's University Hospital in Dallas. He was 74.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Eastside Baptist Church and family visitation following the services in the Fellowship Hall. A private interment will take place.
Jim was born June 29, 1939 in the Mattson Community of Haskell County to Willie Mae (Stewart) and Arthur Cecil Bowers. Jim is a 1957 graduate of Haskell High School and graduated from Texas A&M in 1961 with a Bachelors of Business Administration degree. He married Jerry Waddell in Spur, Texas on June 4, 1960. Jim was a lifetime member of the NRA Golden Eagles and a bible teacher in both Denton and Haskell. Jim is a member of Eastside Baptist Church where he has faithfully served as a Deacon since 1994.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Willie Mae Bowers.
Jim is survived by his wife of 53 years, Jerry Bowers of Haskell; son, Randy Bowers and wife Janet of Haskell; daughter, Jamie Jordan and husband Shane of Anson; 7 grandchildren, Matthew, Laura, James, and Liz Bowers and Jarret Jordan, John Anderson, and Jayden Vanice Jordan; great-grandson, Jayms Jordan; brother, Phill Bowers and wife Lynn of Clifton, Texas; mother Oleta Bowers of Denton, Texas; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
