James M. Byrd

James M. Byrd, 74, of Rochester, TX, passed away Thursday, April 12, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 10:00a.m., Saturday, April 14, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, Rochester with Rev. Mike Wells officiating. Burial will follow services at Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Rochester.

James was born January 23, 1944 in Rochester, to Mary and George Byrd. He grew up in Rochester and later lived in Knox City, Throckmorton, and Haskell. He loved hunting, fishing, and siting outside whittling on sticks.

He is survived by his three sons, Jim Byrd and wife Melanie of Seymour, Donnie Byrd of Throckmorton, and Brandon Byrd and wife Sheri of Othello, WA; daughter, Belinda Byrd of Mason, TX; brother, Denver Byrd of Rochester; four grandchildren, Dakota, Shayna, Samantha, and Kelci; and five great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Mary and George Byrd; three brothers; and five sisters.
