James William Chance, Sr.

James William Chance, Sr., 82, of Throckmorton, Texas, passed away on Friday, November 27, 2020. A graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on December 4, 2020 at Throckmorton Cemetery, with Mr. Austin Cornelius officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Throckmorton.

James was born June 23, 1938 in Winterhaven, Florida to Nell (McDuffie) and Broward Chance. He married Janet Proffitt on July 5, 1956 in Winterhaven, FL and they enjoyed 64 years of marriage. He served 21 year is the U.S. Army, where he did 2 tours in Vietnam. James served his country proudly. He enjoyed his membership in the Patriot Riders, The Sons of Confederate Veterans, and the Vietnam Veterans Group.

He is survived by his wife, Janet Chance of Throckmorton; 4 daughters, June Myers and husband Dave of Euless, Teresa Levario and husband Dave of Olathe, KS, Judy Molloy of Las Cruces, NM, Patricia Panatex and husband Bull of Throckmorton; son, James William Chance, Jr. and wife Laurie of San Antonio; 10 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Yvonne Watson of Winterhaven, FL.

He is preceded in death by his father, Broward Chance; mother, Nell Hicks; granddaughter, Jennifer Mayers; great-grandson, James Norwood; and son-in-law, Keith Molloy.
