November 20, 1957 — July 8, 2018

James William "Jimmy" Johnston, 60, of O'Brien, TX, passed away Sunday, July 8, 2018. A memorial service will be held at 1:00p.m., Saturday, July 21, 2018 at the First Baptist Church, O'Brien with Rev. Gary Schnable officiating. Services are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

He was born to Rose Marie (Banner) Johnston and James Kenneth Johnston on November 20, 1957 in Farmington, New Mexico. He attended school on Farmington, but graduated from Ryder High School in Wichita Falls in 1975. Later he attended Sam Houston State University.

Jim began helping pumpers John Tayler, and James Manning. After gaining knowledge in the oil business, he was employed by Hunt Oil Company. He had great respect for the company, and for his fellow employees.

He is survived by a sister, Shirley Kay Johnston, husband Gary and their daughters, Jessica and Alicia of Bowie, Texas; and a brother-in-law, John Walsh of New York.

Jim served as deacon in the First Christian Church of Conroe, and was a member of the Masonic Lodge.
