James "Jimmy" Leonard Reid, 78, longtime resident of Rochester, Texas passed away Thursday, July 21, 2016, at the Hillside Nursing Center in Gatesville, Texas. Funeral services will be at 2:00 pm, Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the First Baptist Church in Rochester, Texas with Reverend Matt Dossey officiating. Burial will take place immediately following service at Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Friday, July 22, at Smith Family Funeral Home in Rochester, Texas.
Jimmy was born May 16, 1938 to Manford and Claudia (Hewitt) Reid. He grew up on their farm and followed in his Dad's footsteps as a farmer. Jimmy graduated from Rochester High School in 1956. There has always been a strong loyalty to his class in Rochester. He loved and played all the sports. He met the love of his life, Marsha Watson when she came home with his sister from college. They married in 1961 in Jonesboro and farmed together at Rochester.
Jimmy never met a stranger at stock shows, baseball games, football games and his gun shows. He was always part of people's lives. He loved the Rochester Steers and the team, his son coached.
He and Marsha spent six summers on staff at the beautiful Fun Valley, Colorado. They retired to Jonesboro, Texas in 2007. Jimmy is a member of Jonesboro Baptist Church of Jonesboro, Texas.

He preceded in death by his parents, Manford Reid and Claudia (Hewitt) Reid; one infant, James Aubrey in 1962.
Jimmy is survived by his wife, Marsha Reid of Gatesville, Texas; two sons, Larry Reid and wife Karen of Rotan, Texas, and Matt Reid of Waco, Texas; two grandsons, James Edward of Denton, Texas and Ryan Daniel of San Angelo, Texas; one brother, Nicky Reid of Arma, Kansas; three sisters, Sharon Mullino of Rochester, Texas, Diane and Andy Wall of Tyler, Texas, and Kay and Glen Weekly of Waco, Texas.
