James Michael Manuel

October 23, 1947 — June 9, 2015

James Michael Manuel Sr. went to be with the Lord on June 9, 2015, at the age of 67. He was born on October 23, 1947 to James and Carlene Manuel both of Knox City, Texas. He attended McGhee Ward till the 8th grade and graduated from Knox City High School in 1966. Shortly after finishing high school he attended Cisco Junior College. In May of 1969 he joined the navy and became a dental technician. During that time, he married Mary Ruth Reed from Knox City, Texas. They were married for 45 years. After being honorably discharged from the Navy he went to work in construction for a few years. Then after leaving construction he went to work at KMA Well services. After many years of working at KMA, he finished his career as a truck driver for Werner Enterprises.

He is preceded in death by his mother and father, James and Carlene Manuel.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Manuel; his four children, Michelle Wiggins of Abilene, Texas, Mike Manuel Jr. of San Antonio, Texas, Shea Manuel of Abilene, Texas, and Tonya Manuel of Knox City, Texas; his sisters, Espernola Jackson of Mansfield, Texas, Betty Ratcliff of Irving, Texas, and Billie Jean Peay of DeSoto, Texas; and his brother, Nathaniel (Sonny) Manuel of the Dallas area; he has eight grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday, June 13, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.
