Janice LaRue Turner, 86, of Knox City, Texas passed away Monday, February 10, 2025. A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 15, 2025, at 10:00am, at the First Baptist Church, Knox City with Elder Larry Webb officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City.
Janice LaRue Bingham was born March 7, 1938 to Thomas Benson Bingham and Georgia Faye Bingham. She married the love of her life Cecil Dale Turner, Sr. on October 5, 1957. They had a great love for many years and it was very difficult for her after the passing of Dale Sr. on September 8, 2012.
Jan and Dale lived the military life for many years and with their three children Dale Jr., Marsha and Karla. Also having great great friends that were like family, Hugh and Nettie Montgomery along with their four boys Michael, David, Tim, and Paul shared the civil service and church life.
She was a member of the Rule Primitive Baptist Church in Rule, Texas. She loved her church and her church family. With the Primitive Baptist Church no matter what Primitive Baptist Church you attended everyone treated you like family. She loved going to church, meetings, singing, and worshipping with the saints. Jan was also very proud of their military life and had a great respect for the military.
Jan loved being a wife and mother and very active member of her Church. If someone was sick or having a hard time, she always was very good to reach out and encourage them as best as she knew how with telling them how much God loved them and to lean on God for all things. Jan also loved garage sales and thrift stores.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 2 brothers; Samuel Thomas Bingham and Cecil Edmond Bingham; 1 grandson, SPC Zachary Lane New.
She is survived by 1 sister, Sue Huffstutler and husband Robert of Electra, Texas; 1 son, Dale Turner Jr. and wife Gail of Knox City, Texas; 2 daughters, Marsha Durham and husband Curtis of Copperas Cove, Texas, Karla Lebauve and husband Bill of Jarrell, Texas; 1 sister-in-law, Sue Bingham of Wichita Falls, Texas.
Jan also known as MeeMee or Ole Meems is also survived by a host of grandkids, great grandkids, great-great grandkids, nieces, nephews and friends who all loved her very much.
