Jerry Donald Conner

Jerry Donald Conner, age 86, of Rule passed away peacefully at home on Friday, August 25, 2023. He was born August 18, 1937 in Gorman, Texas to the late Dennie William Conner and Verbenia Alice Herndon Conner Matlock. The family later moved to Brownwood, Texas where Jerry attended school until midterm of 8th grade when the family moved to Temple, Texas. After high school, Jerry joined the U.S. Navy, serving from 1955 to 1959. He attained the rank of Petty Officer AK3 (Aviation Storekeeper 3rd Class). Jerry returned to Temple after discharge from the Navy. He met Sue Quisenberry on May 8, 1964. They moved to Dallas and were married October 17, 1964 in Grand Prairie, Texas.

The couple lived in the Dallas area for 14 years where Jerry worked in Electronic Sales. After living near New Orleans, Louisiana for two years, Jerry and Sue moved to Round Rock, Texas where he continued working in Electronic Sales in Austin. Jerry excelled in his profession and earned the Million Dollar Salesman" title multiple years. After retiring in 2000, Jerry and Sue traveled in their RV and worked a variety of jobs. They moved to Blanco, Texas in 2012, until relocating to Rule, Texas in October 2019.

Jerry is survived by his daughter Gina Conner of Rule, Texas; three grandchildren, Jillian Wier, Lance Conner, and Lacey Conner Russell; six great grandchildren, Jackson, Yolanda, Conner, Eris, Ryder and Archer, and many nieces and nephews.

Jerry is preceded in death by his wife, Sue Conner, parents, Dennie and Verbenia; brother Billy Joe Conner; sisters, Imogene Montgomery and Christine Briscoe, and daughter Julie Wier.

Jerry will be greatly missed by family and friends and all that knew him. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday September 2, 2023, at the First Baptist Church of Rule with Scott Hensley officiating, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Rule. A family visitation will be held Friday, September 1, 2023 from 6:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home, 600 Robins Ave, Rule, Texas.
