Jesse H. Martinez,Sr.

Jesse H. Martinez, Sr., 63, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2022. A funeral service will be held at 2:00PM, Monday, January 2, 2023, at Faith Chapel Church in Rochester,TX, with Pastor Randy Estes officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Rochester Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned Sunday, January 1, 2023, from 6:00-7:00PM, at Smith Family Funeral Homes, 304 N 2nd Street, Haskell, TX.

Jesse was born June 28, 1959, in Stanton, TX, to Gregoria (Hernandez) and his biological father Florencio Martinez, raised by Arnoldo Delacruz Sr. He loved fishing, wood working, and his music. He enjoyed family time with his grandkids and with his great nieces and nephews. He also loved to cook, and bake.

He is survived by his wife, Anna Salinas of Merkel; son, Jesse Jr. Martinez of Merkel; two daughter, Analisa Martinez of Merkel, Leann Martinez of Uvalde; mom, Gregoria Delacruz of Hamlin; seven sisters, Manuela Martinez of Vernon, Mary Rocha of Abilene, Delores Calvert of Burleson, Andrea Ivy of Abilene, Guadalupe Delgado of Merkel, Carmen Alsides of Abilene, Janey Delacruz of Hamlin; three brothers, Arnold Delacruz of Hamlin, Armando Delacruz of Abilene, Martin Delacruz of Abilene; four grandchildren, Hailey Phebus of Knox City, Jacoby, Jackson and Jalen Martinez all of Merkel, TX; and many, many nieces and nephews who adore him and will miss him dearly.

He is preceded in death by his father, Florencio Martinez, and stepfather, Arnoldo Delacruz; brother, Juan Manuel Delacruz; grandmother, Carmen Hernandez, and granddad, Andres Hernandez.
