Jim Cox, 75, of Benjamin, TX, passed away July 13, 2018, at his home. A funeral service will be held at 1:00p.m., Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at the Benjamin United Methodist Church, Benjamin with Mr. Dennis Duke officiating. Cremation will follow services. Arrangements are under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00p.m., Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the funeral home, 210 Avenue A., Knox City, TX.
Jim was born August 22, 1942 in Seymour, to Alberta (Branch) and Earl Cox. He graduated from UTA with a bachelors degree. He married Nelda Spencer on August 20, 1966 in Wise Co. Jim served in the United States Army. He was born and raised in Knox Co. before moving off, and later returning to Benjamin in 2006. Jim enjoyed golfing in his younger years, and recently salt water fishing.
He is survived by his two sons, Steven Cox of Cleburne, and James Cox of Wichita, Kansas; two grandsons, Brannigan Cox, and Sebastian Cox both of Cleburne; two sisters, Reba Morrill of Benjamin, and Glenda Bearly of Erie, CO.; and one brother, Harry Cox of Mt. Calm, TX.
He is preceded in death by his father, Earl Cox; mother, Alberta (Branch) Cox; wife, Nelda (Spencer) Cox; and sister, Linda Cox.
