Jimmy Ray Barrientez, 43, a long time resident of Benjamin, TX, passed away Thursday, November 30, 2017. A funeral service will be held at 2:00p.m., Monday, December 4, 2017 at the Memorial Building, Benjamin with Rev. James Jackson and Mr. Riley Carver officiating. Burial will follow services at the Benjamin Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City. A visitation is planned from 6:00-8:00p.m., Sunday, December 3, 2017 at the funeral home 210 Ave A., Knox City, TX.
Jimmy was born June 12, 1974 in Knox City, to Reyes (Ledesma) and Raul Barrientez. He married Michele Conner on May 15, 1999 in Rhineland, TX. He served as Benjamin School Board President, and was a member of the Benjamin Volunteer Fire Department. He enjoyed making bits and spurs. He loved music and had a passion for western swing. Most of all, he loved spending time with his family, and attending his kids many sporting events.
He is survived by his wife, Michele Barrientez of Benjamin; two sons, Caleb Barrientez of Benjamin, and Jalen Barrientez of Benjamin; three daughters, Allie Worthington of Decatur, Madison Barrientez of Benjamin, and Emmy Barrientez of Benjamin; his mother, Reyes Barrientez of Stamford; his brother, Jr. Barrientez of Stamford; two sisters, Mary Barrientez of Denton, and Lupe Palacio of Johnson City; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Raul Barrientez.
Memorials can be given in Jimmy's name to Benjamin Ex-Students Association.
