Jo Turnbow

Josephine "Jo" Evelyn Turnbow passed away Sunday morning, January 19, 2014 at Haskell Memorial Hospital in Haskell. Mrs. Turbow was 88. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at Willow Cemetery with Dr. Troy Culpepper officiating. Arrangements were made under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes.

One of eleven children, Jo was born December 23, 1925 in Detroit, Texas. She married C.A. "Bud" Turnbow on May 23, 1942 in Paris, Texas and the two soon made Haskell their home. Bud passed away February 1, 2013. Jo's home was dear to her and she took pride in decorating and maintaining it in beautiful condition both inside and out. Adjacent was her shop where she was a hairdresser for many years. She enjoyed playing bridge and sewing. Jo was a member of the First Baptist Church in Haskell.

Jo is preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 70 years, Bud; a granddaughter, Kelly Colleen Johnston; 3 brothers; and 6 sisters.

She is survived by her daughter, Nancy Jo Johnston; granddaughter, Traci Jo Walker; 3 great-grandchildren, Taylor Michelle Walker, John Leslie Walker, Kelly Ray Walker; brother, Ike Jewitt; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
