Joann Scarlett

Joann Scarlett formerly of Throckmorton, Texas and most recently of Arlington, TX passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2016. Visitation will be held in Throckmorton at the Smith Family Funeral Home, Friday June 3, from 6-7pm. Funeral will be held Saturday, June 4th at 10am in Throckmorton at the First Baptist Church. Interment will take place immediately following service at Throckmorton Cemetery.

Joann was born on October 18, 1934 in Throckmorton to the late Earnest Lee and Allie (McNutt) Glenn. She graduated from Throckmorton HS in 1953. In 1957 she married the love of her life, J.H. "Scarlett" Scarlett. She worked for over 50 years as a beautician and then as a bookkeeper for the family business, Scarlett Butane. Her life 's passion was her family and she enjoyed cooking and sewing. Joann's home was always the center for her extended family for special gatherings and holidays. She was a dedicated member of the First Baptist Church in Throckmorton.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Henry Scarlett and her son, Greg Scarlett; brothers Louie and RA Glenn, and a sister Janette Jennings.

She is survived by a sister Lavonne Huston; son David Scarlett; daughters Stacy (Donnie) Clark, Darlene (Butch) Breed, and Debbie (Cappy) Chase, and Angie (Greg) Scarlett. Grandchildren include: Loren, Libby, and Logan Scarlett; Colby Yarberry; Mark and Bobby Breed, Jeff Chase and Jennifer Vaughn; AJ and Spencer Clark. Two great-grandchildren. Numerous nieces and nephews, all who loved her so.
