Joe Everett Flores, 92, a lifelong resident of Knox Co., TX, passed away Monday, May 21, 2018. A funeral service will be held at 11:00a.m., Thursday, May 24, 2018 at Saint Jospeh Catholic Church, Rhineland with Father John Perikomalayli officiating. Burial will follow services at the Knox City Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes, Knox City. A Rosary will be held at 6:00p.m., Wednesday, May 23, 2018, at the Santa Rosa Catholic Church, Knox City, TX.
Joe was born May 30, 1925 in Benjamin to Anita (Everett) and Cecil Flores. He was raised on the League Ranch. He married Eva M. Martinez on August 14, 1948 in Rhineland, TX. Joe especially loved his family, fishing, baseball, socializing, and telling jokes. He was an avid Texas Rangers and Dallas Cowboy fan. He was very active, mowing his own yard until he was 92.
He is survived by his wife, Eva Flores of Knox City; two daughters, Sylvia Erwin and husband Richard of Azle, and Irene Smith and husband Gary of Hawley; son, David Joe Flores and wife Maria of Ft. Worth; brother, Tom Flores and wife Mary Lou of Brush, CO; four grandchildren, Shane E. Flores, Brittany Flores, Lance David Flores, and Roper Morrow; eight step grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Anita (Everett) Flores; father, Cecil Flores; four brothers; and three sisters.
Memorials can be given in Joe's name to Santa Rosa Catholic Church.
