John (Johnny) R. Peysen, Jr.,74, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022. A graveside service will held at 2:00PM, Wednesday, November 16, 2022, at the Knox City Cemetery with Rev. Gary Schnable officiating, under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. A visitation is planned from 6:00-7:00PM. Tuesday, November 15, 2022, at the funeral home, 210 Ave. A, Knox City, Texas.

Johnny was born November 10, 1948 in Knox City, Texas, to RueDel (Brewster) and John Peysen, Sr. He graduated from Munday High School in 1967, and then enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as a Crew Chief. He received training as aircraft mechanic, thus becoming a third generation in the military service. During his 12 years of service, his tours of duty included, Sheppard Air Force Base, Las Vegas, Thailand, San Antonio and Fort Hood. While in Oklahoma, Johnny met and married Bonnie Poe on October 27, 1976 in Knox City, Texas and they enjoyed a long and happy marriage. Johnny became the father of Rhondi and Ronnie Bruce. He left the Air Force and they settled in Knox City, where they managed a video store in Munday and Knox City. Johnny worked in ranching/farming. He later worked for Kinder Morgan from which he retired several years later.

He is survived by his two sons, John R. Peysen, III of Omaha, NE, Ron Bruce and wife Annie of Knox City; daughter, Rhondi Rodriquez and husband Augustin of Knox City; two granddaughters, Leilani Trevino and husband Tommy of Wichita Falls, Kaley Ainsworth of Abilene; three grandsons, C.J. Bruce and Tabitha Lane of Seymour, Chance Agraz and wife Angel of Haskell, Zachary Rodriquez and fiance Jasmine Havens of Springtown; fourteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Exa Lee Smith of Munday and Anna Marie Latta.

He is preceded in death by his parents, RueDel and John Peysen, Sr.; wife, Bonnie Peysen; and sister Jimmi Del Moore.
