Johnny Lee "Moe" Johnson, 63, of Haskell, Texas passed away Friday, February 7, 2014 at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 11, 2014 at the Greater Independence Baptist Church with Rev. Ray Lee Kilgore officiating. Burial will take place immediately following at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation is planned for Monday evening, February 10 from 6:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home located at 304 N. 2nd Street.
One of 5 boys, Johnny Lee "Moe" Johnson was born in Haskell on September 7, 1950 to Alice Lee (Lewis) and L.C. Johnson, Sr. He married Ellen in Haskell 36 years ago and they remained in Haskell where Moe worked at Haskell Memorial Hospital as the floor tech.
Moe enjoyed spending time with family and friends; watching Sports Center; and liked to gamble. He was a member of the Greater Independence Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents.
Moe is survived by his wife, Ellen of Haskell; 3 daughters, Krystle Edmond of Haskell, Jennifer Frazier of Ft. Worth, Katrina Chance of Savannah, GA; 4 grandchildren, Jordan Frazier, Jady Frazier, David Demerson, II, and Morgan Chance; 4 brothers, Otis Johnson of Arlington, TX, Robert Johnson, Sr. and L.C. Johnson Jr. both of Haskell; and Ollie Johnson of Arlington, TX.
Moe is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Serving as his pallbearers are his brothers and nephews; Robert Johnson, Sr., L.C. Johnson, Jr., Rodney Johnson, Robert Johnson, Jr., O.T. Johnson, and O.D. Johnson.
