Jona Alexander Caddell, 96, passed away December 6, 2015 at Chisholm Place Assisted Living in Abilene, Texas. Funeral services will be held 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, December 8, 2015 at the Church of Christ in Haskell with Mr. David Trice and Mr. Gerald McCoy officiating. Burial will take place immediately following the service at Willow Cemetery under the direction of Smith Family Funeral Homes. Visitation will be held prior to service from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., at the Church of Christ in Haskell.
Jona was born December 2, 1919, in Weinert, Texas to Jim and Ophelia Alexander. On July 30, 1939 she married Glenn Wilton Caddell, the love of her life for 52 years. She was a member of the Church of Christ in Haskell. Joan worked at Wheatley's and then at Heidenheimer's in Haskell. She also enjoyed cooking, playing dominos and cards.
She is preceded in death by her parents, James Richard Alexander and Ophelia Jane (Barber); and her husband, Glenn Wilton Caddell.
Jona is survived by her three daughters, Sharon Elaine LeMay, Lorenia Caddell Davis and her husband Joe, Joan LaVerne Hurst and her husband Cam; and son, Larry Glenn Caddell and his wife Wanda; twelve grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
